OCTOber news

Autumn is in full swing, and the fields are bursting with beautiful British Brassicas. Our chefs are swapping summer salads for roasted roots, hearty greens and seasonal comfort. Think Cauliflower, Cavolo Nero, Kohlrabi and everyone’s favourite - Brussels Sprouts.

Of course, it wouldn’t be October without squash season. From the rich, nutty Crown Prince to the deep orange Kabocha and Delicate, these autumn gems are packed with colour, flavour and versatility - perfect for soups, roasting, or adding a splash of vibrancy to any menu.

Sadly we wave goodbye to British plum season, however, the apple harvest is in full swing. For the second year in a row we’re partnering with our friends at Waterperry Gardens in Oxford for their crisp Cox and Russets, the ever popular Royal Gala with the nations favourite, Braeburn just around the corner.

Lets not forget the Roots and Leaves making a comeback this month - Beetroot, Leeks, Parsnips and Kale are thriving, ready to bring that unmistakable autumn warmth to your plate.

It might be dull and dark outside but it’s a month bursting with texture and earthy flavours

Unlike most in the industry, we don’t boast a warehouse stacked full of produce waiting around to be sold.

In fact, ours is pretty empty and that’s just the way we like it!

Fewer suppliers than ever are prepared to walk the line in the young hours of the morning in this day and age, instead opting for the easier route by ordering over the telephone from major importers. We get it, it makes for a much easier life, but that’s not a real supplier.
